—  Overview

Welcome to STEP!

The Skills Training & Employment Program (STEP) is a career-focused program designed to help young people build the skills, confidence, and experience needed to succeed in the Canadian workforce.

Through a combination of employment readiness training, essential workplace skills development, entrepreneurship learning, and a paid work placement, STEP supports participants in moving from unemployment toward meaningful career opportunities. The program is designed to ensure that participants leave not only with new knowledge, but also with practical experience and greater confidence for their future.
—   Objectives

  • Build Employment Readiness: Equip participants with the practical skills, tools, and confidence needed to prepare for and secure meaningful employment.
  • Strengthen Workplace and Entrepreneurial Skills: Develop essential professional, digital, financial, and entrepreneurial skills that support long-term career growth and self-sufficiency.
  • Create Pathways to Economic Opportunity: Provide participants with hands-on experience, career exposure, and paid work placement opportunities that help bridge the gap to the Canadian workforce.
—   What We Offer
  • Practical Employment Training: Participants receive hands-on support in resume writing, cover letter development, job search strategies, interview preparation, and career planning.

  • Essential Workplace and Life Skills Development: The program builds communication, financial literacy, digital skills, professionalism, and workplace readiness to help participants succeed in any work environment.

  • Entrepreneurship Learning and Paid Work Experience: Participants explore entrepreneurship, business development, and pitch creation while also gaining valuable real-world experience through a paid work placement
